OPPO Find X2 Raises the Bar on China’s Flagship Specs
March 08, 2020

OPPO announced the Find X2 Pro, a new flagship with specs including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 12GB RAM, 120Hz refresh rate, 1440p screen, periscope camera, and orange (vegan) leather.
  • The first phone to use the Find name since the original Find X in 2018 has a 6.7-inch, and attempts to match the S20 flagship Samsung.
  • It offers a Samsung-made AMOLED display and it’s reportedly stunning: bright and brilliant with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits
  • Has a 4,260mAh battery (vs. S20 Ultra’s 5,000mAh)with 65W charging that goes from 0 t0 100% in 38 minutes, a triple camera system using Sony’s new IMX 689 sensor on the main camera, and the older IMX586 sensor on the ultrawide camera.
  • The periscope prism camera is 48MP and with 5x optical zoom at an effective 129mm focal length. It also has a 10x hybrid zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. The 10x hybrid zoom seems very good, but just like the 100x Space Zoom on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, the 60x mode results in mostly a smudged mess.
  • There’s also 5G.
  • The Find X2 Pro will cost €1,199 ($1,350) in Europe, while the regular X2 is €999 ($1,130), and OPPO is aiming for an early May release.
  • Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S20 series it support  120Hz and QHD+ modes at the same time
  • The price doesn’t offer much of a break from Samsung’s S20 range as the S20 Plus being €999 while the S20 Ultra goes for €1,349 (with pre-order bonuses including the Galaxy Buds Plus still available for a few days).
  • There’s also a Lamborghini edition, with design taken from the Aventador SVJ Roadster, for about $1,880.
There’s also a non-Pro version, which skimps on the camera specs and packs a smaller battery, drops the IP68 rating, and no leather option.
