Nintendo to Introduce 4K 7” Rigid OLED Display in 2021

A new Nintendo Switch Pro looks set for a late 2021 release, with a rigid 7-inch 4K OLED display, which will be provided by SDC. The expected volume is 700K/month. The current Switch is 6.2-inches, the Switch Lite is 5.5-inches in size.
  • The Pro model will stick with the current 720p resolution despite the larger 7-inch size.
  • While docked, the Switch Pro will output a full 4K resolution,
  • Production starts in June.

Nintendo seeks to sustain a Switch lineup that continues to sell well against the Xbox and PlayStation, thanks to pandemic-era breakout hits like Animal Crossing and a chip crunch that’s plagued supply of rival devices. But the gadget is now into its fifth year, while Microsoft Corp. and Sony Corp. both have new and more powerful machines in the market.
