LG’s ThinkQuest w/5 Cameras
October 01, 2018

Last week, we discussed LG Electronicsannouncement of a new smartphone design as the company unveiled the V40 ThinkQuest, which has a 6.4” flexible OLED display, and also has five camera lenses, including a dual camera setup on the front and a triple camera setup on the back.  When this phone is released (next month) it will set a new record in the ‘camera wars’ that Samsung and Huawei are battling for what they thought was the top of the heap with four camera models. Since differentiating smartphones by # of cameras, a six camera system could be next, with the potential for a system that can photograph through filters allowing your pet to show you the way he or she sees the world!

The following table illustrates the focus of smartphone designers toward the inclusion of additional cameras as a differentiating feature, and while the data shows dual camera systems, not the unusual 4 camera systems previously mentioned, smartphone brands Google and Huawei emphasize the quality of the camera over the quantity.
