LCD ASP’s Continue to Drop in April ’19
April 15, 2019

Notebook prices for April should be down ~0.2%, monitor prices should down between 0.2% and 0.4% and TV panel prices will be mixed with medium size panel (40” – 45”) up between 0.9% and 1.3%, and larger TV panels should be flat to down slightly.  Mid-sized panels would be affected by the potential LCD fab closure by Samsung Display,to create a platform for its QD/OLED panel production line, and panel buyers have been anticipating an announcement by securing additional supplies.   On a more general basis, the panel space still remains in an over-capacity mode this year as new Chinese capacity continues to come on line, especially at larger sizes.  Panel price reductions for the are expected to moderate as panel producers chase premium products while generic panels for IT products and even some TV panels sell at or near cash costs.
