Kopin and eMagin Reported Financial Results For The First Quarter Ended March 28, 2020

Kopin reported Q120 revenues of $7.9m, up 42.2% Y/Y, driven by both defense production and funded development programs. The net loss was reduced to $3.7m from $11.3m last year. Their current internal R&D investments are primarily focused on OLED displays, where they demonstrated the world's first monochrome double-stack OLED emitting more than 20,000 nits. They have demonstrated early samples of a full color 2.6K OLED 1.3" diagonal displays using double stacks. In Q120, they received their first production order for OLED backplane wafers, which are expected to ship in the second quarter of 2020.
 
eMagin reported Q120 revenue of $6.7m up 10.1% Y/Y. The net loss was 1.37m, down from a net loss of 1.44m last year. eMagin high brightness initiative  that uses direct patterning reached 7500 candelas/m2, which they claim is higher than any competitor. The expect to reach 10,000 candelas/m2 by the fourth quarter of this year and 28,000 candelas/m2 for production of full color displays by 2023. This is 5 to 10 times higher than any competitor. Direct Patterning equipment has been upgraded and installation is complete. They are qualifying the equipment and validating the process and expect to fabricate full color displays in the second quarter.
