Corning’s Astra Glass Adopted by CEC panda for IGZO Panels
September 03, 2019

Corning has announced the selection of its Astra Glass by Chengdu CEC Panda Display Technology (CCPD) for its line of oxide-TFT LCD panels used primarily for high-performance, large-size TVs and monitors.
Corning said it was the majority display glass supplier for CCPD's oxide-LCD panels.
"Corning is pleased to work alongside CCPD to implement Astra Glass as the foundation for the next evolution of high-performance oxide-TFT displays," said Han Yim, business director, High Performance Displays, Corning Glass Technologies. "CCPD has quickly become a valued collaborator for Corning and we look forward to continuing to enable immersive viewing experiences with Astra glass in their displays."

Corning said CCPD selected Astra Glass as its backplane substrate because it has the inherent fidelity - dimensional and thermal stability - to thrive in high-temperature oxide-TFT fabrication for immersive high-performance displays. High-temperature oxide-TFT technology helps panel makers achieve high resolutions while providing attractive panel economics, particularly in large form factors, like TVs, Corning said.

CCPD's advanced oxide-TFT process is widely used in 4K and 8K display panels, said Corning, who will showcase one of these displays, completely designed by CCPD and enabled by its latest core technologies of Oxide PAT, Super-UVA, Cu connect and Corning Astra Glass, at Touch Taiwan 2019 running August 28-30 in Taipei.
