Asus ROG Phone 3 to Retain 6000 mAh Battery

The Asus ROG Phone 3 was among the beefiest Android phones of 2020, packing plenty of power, a 120Hz OLED screen, and a 6,000mAh battery. The one downside to the battery size is that it takes the phone over 100 minutes.
Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station reports that the Asus ROG Phone 4 will gain 60W or 65W charging when it launches later this year. They further claim that the device will maintain a 6,000mAh battery size compared to:
  • Black Shark 4 120W+ dual cell equivalent to 4500mAh
  • Red Magic 6 120W+ dual cell equivalent to 4500mAh
  • ROG4 60W/65W+ dual cell equivalent to 6000mAh
There’s no word on what this means for battery health over time, as faster charging usually results in faster battery degradation. However, OPPO claimed the battery in the 65W-toting Ace 2 will maintain over 90% capacity after 800 cycles (i.e., roughly two years).  The tipster alleges that all three phones are due in the first half of 2021, which would be an early release for the ROG Phone 4 in particular. Asus has traditionally launched the ROG Phone series in the second half of each year, going back to the original device.
