​Q319 Wearable Shipments Jump 95% Y/Y

Wearables, led by “earwear” experienced a 95% Y/Y increase in shipments in Q319 hitting a record 84.5m units for the quarter. Shipments were up 143% sequentially, and while Q3 is always a large quarter due to preparation for the holiday period, this growth is unprecedented.

The major wearable categories, Earwear, Wristbands and Smartwatches were up 242%, 49% and 48%, respectively, demonstrating that the category has achieved a new level of consumer acceptability and is ripe for the holiday season. Total product shipments were 151m in all of 2018, figure that has already been eclipsed in 9 months of 2019. Apple’s success in earbuds and smartwatches has enabled the company to out already exceed its full 2018 shipment volume.
