Kodak Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for OLED Lighting Technology
,
May 21, 2009

ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 21 – Eastman Kodak Company has been named by Frost & Sullivan
as the recipient of the 2009 OLED Lighting Enabling Technology of the Year Award in the field
of Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) Solid State Lighting (SSL) Technology.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the Enabling Technology of the Year Award is presented to a
company that has developed a technology that can benefit or revolutionize the industry. Kodak, a
pioneer in the OLED field, was recognized for its development of systems and processes that
will enable a future generation of low power, cost-effective OLED lighting systems. This award
recognizes Kodak as a leader among major OLED lighting technology companies worldwide.

“Low-cost, energy-efficient OLED solid state lighting is a very promising future application,
and is a direct result of Kodak’s continued OLED innovation. We are committed to bringing this
technology to market through collaboration with other leading companies,” said Corey Hewitt,
Operations Manager and Vice President, Kodak’s OLED Systems Business. “We are delighted to
be recognized by a well-respected organization such as Frost & Sullivan. As we continue to
develop new applications for Kodak OLED technology, we remain dedicated to finding
sustainable solutions that will some day result in cost-effective lighting systems that consume as
much as 50% less energy.”

Kodak will display the Frost & Sullivan award and will demonstrate its other OLED
advances in the company’s exhibit at the upcoming Society for Information Display Conference
in San Antonio, Texas (June 1 - 5).

Highlights of the technical areas pertaining to the award are summarized below. For greater

About Kodak OLED Lighting Technology

KODAK Vapor Injection Source Technology (VIST): This technology significantly reduces
the manufacturing cost of OLED lighting panels by increasing material utilization and reducing
TACT time.

Kodak’s Monolithic-Integrated Serial Connection Panel Architecture: This innovative design
allows for economical fabrication of large-area lighting panels with reduced voltage drop. This
structure is fault tolerant, thereby reducing the impact of shorting defects and improving
manufacturing yield.

Highly Efficient Lighting Architectures: Kodak has leveraged its proprietary White OLED
technology and materials expertise to demonstrate efficacies >60 lm/W. This remarkable
achievement also meets the Department of Energy’s Energy Star Program specifications for
color and color rendering index, which is a requirement for sale into the U.S. market. Kodak has
developed novel light extraction structures that more than double the out-coupling efficiency of
OLEDs. Since lifetime is an important feature for OLED lighting products, Kodak has focused
on all-fluorescent and hybrid emitter systems due to their expected higher lifetime in comparison
to all-phosphorescent emitter systems.
