eMagin-Equipped Soldier Training Systems Featured at I/ITSEC Exhibition
,
ORLANDO, Fla., Dec 02, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays from eMagin Corporation (EMAN:0.38, +0.04, +11.8%) , a leader in OLED microdisplays and virtual imaging technology, continue to enable new simulation and training systems. Attendees at this year's Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) can view commercial products equipped with eMagin's displays at the booths of premier military suppliers. I/ITSEC is being held through December 5 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Products being displayed at I/ITSEC include:
Intevac Vision Systems (IVS) (Booth #4247). -- I-Port(TM) EX, incorporating an eMagin SVGA+ OLED-XL display, is a versatile hands-free, near-eye display system mounted on lightweight military approved eyewear. The battery-operated system provides a 35deg diagonal field of view, accepts a variety of video inputs into the compact, clip-mounted display control unit, and is well suited for OEMs, military, medical, training, simulation, and virtual reality applications. -- IVS' new I-Port(TM) Binocular 50, incorporating two eMagin SVGA+ OLED-XL displays, provides a wide 50deg diagonal field of view module mountable in eyewear. IVS' proprietary In-Line Reflective Optical Collimator (IROC) provides non-pupil forming and compact eye designs. -- IVS' iPort 50 monocular demonstrator, incorporating eMagin's newly announced SXGA OLED-XL display and IVS' IROC, provides a 50deg diagonal field of view. The product is designed for future training and simulation, body worn computing, remote sensing, and situational awareness applications. ( www.intevac.com)
NVIS (Booth #4115). -- Virtual Binocular SV (VBSV) hand-held display, incorporating two of eMagin's SVGA+ OLED XL displays, is designed for cost-sensitive, professional training and simulation applications. The VBSV features a bright 800x600 display with focus-adjustable eyepieces displaying a 40 field-of-view and allows users to install and replace most popular motion trackers. The VBSV's intuitive interface lends itself well to applications ranging from simulated binoculars used in military trainers to virtual 3D microscopes for medical simulations. ( www.nvisinc.com) Rockwell Collins (Booth #801). -- Proview(TM) S035-MTV, incorporating eMagin's SVGA+ OLED-XL display, is a transparent microviewer designed for remote viewing of any NTSC/RS170 device including various video sights, computers, maps, GPS, and other data information. It features an advanced see-through prism optic with a wide field of view that is adjustable to above or below the line of sight to increase situational awareness. ( www.rockwellcollins.com/optronics) Quantum 3D (Booth #1501). -- ExpeditionDI(TM), incorporating two of eMagin's SVGA 3D OLED displays, is 100% PC compatible and was designed to be a turnkey COTS solution for immersed training and mission planning exercises which enable system integrators and researchers to quickly and economically develop programs for individual or group training. The battery powered system incorporates features including Quantum3D's Thermite(TM) man-wearable Tactical Visual Computer for graphics processing and mission coordination, multiple positional trackers, headset and microphone, and a weapons subsystem. ( www.quantum3d.com). Sensics (Booth #3430). -- Sensics piSight(TM) ultra-panoramic head mounted display, incorporating up to 24 eMagin SVGA 3D OLED-XL displays, provides over 30 configurations ideal for high-end research, training, design, and simulation applications with fields of views from 82 to 180 and offering better than 1920 x 1080 resolution. -- Sensics new xSight(TM), incorporating 12 of eMagin's SVGA 3D OLED-XL displays, is a professional headmounted display that delivers a 123 panoramic field of view and accepts multiple video resolutions (e.g., 1680x1050 pixels per eye). The lightweight system is compatible with many applications, motion, and eye trackers. -- Sensics new HDSight(TM), incorporating up to 12 of eMagin's SVGA 3D OLED-XL displays, is a complete module including full optics, packaging, and drive electronics in a variety of configurations for OEM/ODM applications and provides high resolution and up to 109 horizontal, 45 vertical panoramic field of view. ( www.sensics.com) "Credible training simulations improve both mission effectiveness and soldier safety," said Susan Jones, eMagin's chief business officer. "eMagin's OLED microdisplay's high performance, high resolution, and low power requirements make it a critical component in a growing number of training systems for dismounted infantry, first responders, and telemedicine to enable the highest levels of operational readiness." OLED - Ideal for Near-Eye Applications eMagin's OLED microdisplays deliver the resolution, brightness, and speed for a broad range of defense and security applications - at the lowest system power of any near-eye solution. Because OLEDs can switch to different gray level states in microseconds rather than milliseconds, eMagin microdisplays deliver images and information virtually flicker-free in near-eye applications. With the world's lowest power display solution they provide soldiers with critical information for extended periods in harsh environments, ranging from extreme cold to high heat without additional heaters or coolers. Since they emit light in all directions, OLED microdisplays also accommodate a greater range of pupil movement than traditional LCDs, making them ideal for integration with simulation and training systems and a increasingly used in a range of rugged military applications, such as situational awareness and thermal imaging, with premier military systems integrators. About eMagin Corporation A leader in OLED microdisplay technology and personal display systems, eMagin integrates high-resolution OLED microdisplays with magnifying optics to deliver virtual images comparable to large-screen computer and television displays in portable, low-power, lightweight personal displays. eMagin microdisplays provide near-eye imagery in a variety of products from military, industrial, medical and consumer OEMs. The company's own Z800 3DVisor provides 3D stereovision and headtracking for PC gaming, training and simulation, immersion therapy, and other applications. eMagin's microdisplay manufacturing and R&D operations are co-located with IBM on its campus in East Fishkill, New York. System design facilities and sales and marketing are located in Bellevue, Washington. More information about eMagin and its products is available at www.emagin.com.
