WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 30, 2008 – DuPont Displays today announced that it will showcase the latest generation of its active-matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED) displays and DuPont™ Vertak™ DBA2000 direct bonding adhesive at FPD International in Yokohama, Japan, Oct. 29-31. OLED display prototypes from DuPont Displays will be exhibited in the Dainippon Screen Manufacturing Co., Ltd. booth #4701 and the Chi Mei EL Corporation booth #2802, while information on Vertak™ DBA2000 reworkable bonding adhesive will be available in Wacom booth #5802.
“With our deep strengths in science and engineering, DuPont Displays is able to address issues that established display technologies are facing, like cost demand and performance, while also bringing new ideas and advancements for next-generation technologies,” said William F. Feehery, global business director, DuPont OLEDs. “FPD International is the ideal industry venue for us to share the recent advances we’ve made.”
For OLED displays, DuPont Displays has developed solution printed OLED technology that is designed to lower AMOLED manufacturing costs. DuPont’s proprietary technology includes a set of solution-based OLED materials that can be printed and coated at high speed using an innovative process. Fabrication of AMOLED displays by solution process reduces material consumption and lowers equipment costs compared to incumbent vapor deposition processes. These advantages result in significant cost benefits over both LCD and the incumbent OLED technology. 4.3 inch WQVGA AMOLED prototype displays produced by DuPont Displays in Santa Barbara, Calif., will be on exhibit. The prototypes were printed on Chi Mei backplanes using a Dainippon Screen nozzle printer and will be shown in both of their booths.
Also on the show floor, DuPont Displays is announcing the availability of DuPont™ Vertak™ DBA2000 direct bonding adhesive for evaluation. DuPont™ Vertak™ DBA2000 is a reworkable direct bonding adhesive that increases display ruggedization and sunlight readability and is a next-generation adhesive based on the performance characteristics of Vertak™ DBA1000. The optically clear Vertak™ bonding adhesives combine the benefits of alternative adhesives like silicone and epoxy, and are highly resistant to yellowing, delamination and bubble formations. Now, Vertak™ DBA2000 adhesive enables the separation of liquid crystal display (LCD), touch screens and other substrates from bonded coverplates within minutes, then allows the components to be immediately rebonded. In addition, William F. Feehery will present on Solution-Printed AMOLED Displays on Friday, Oct. 31. Please refer to the official show schedule for additional information.
