LG Chem and LG Electronics in Collaboration with designboom, the
International Design Competition for OLED Lighting Competition

LG Chem and LG Electronics will be jointly holding an OLED Lighting design competition in
collaboration with designboom, a leading digital architecture and design magazine. LG Chem is
one of the leaders in the OLED lighting industry and is the only company to announce plans to
build a production size fab – 5th Gen. This year LG Chem plans to add three standard size panels
and one special size panel to its product roadmap (see Figure 2). LG Chem has been actively
promoting its OLED lighting products and the company regularly exhibits through various road
shows and international exhibitions. LG Chem and LG Electronics are reaching out to the
designers in order to promote and create OLED lighting panel designs that can enable OLED
lighting panel users to experience the most natural and sensible lighting for their daily lives.

For the competition, the ‘Standard Panel Design’ will include one or multiple rigid OLED
lighting panels made by LG Chem. The lighting panel sizes are 55 x 53 mm, 100 x 100 mm, 140
x 140 mm and 200 x 50 mm. These categories will be targeting product launches early next
year. LG Chem also added the ‘Special Panel Design’-a flexible (200 x 50mm) and/or
Transparent (55 x 53mm). This category’s market launch is forecasted to be between late 2014
and early 2015.

To make the competition interesting, LG Chem and LG Electronics decided to award a Winner
and Runner Up prizes of, USD 5000 and USD 3000 respectively. The registration deadline is
